TikTok is still a big question mark for most of us, but we can't deny anymore we're somewhat interested in it too. If you're my generation and remember vine, then you're getting the point. The app allows you to upload a 15 seconds video from your phone, including filters, sound effects and editing tools to make your video stand out.

If you discarded TikTok already, you might want to re-think your choice. Especially if you're not particularly skilled in content creation. This app allows you to create content directly from your phone without needing professional skills of any sort, giving you the possibility to reach hundreds of Gen Zs in a matter of seconds (or thousands if you're particularly good at it!).

#1: Put your music on TikTok

Nowadays, almost every distribution platform gives you the option to upload your track on TikTok for people to use in their short clips. Your track will be in the app' music library and each time it will get used, you will warn money each time the video is viewed.

#2: Become a meme

Surely this depends on your brand too, but the key to the heart of TikTokers is being funny and relatable. Make sure you upload a track with quotable lyrics, something that creators can use to express their personality. Very much similar with what's Lizzo's done with her "Truth Hurts".

If you don't have relatable lyrics and there is no way your music is suitable for such platform, there are other ways to become relatable. You can use existing formats like Sophie And The Giants are doing brilliantly. They exist, they are popular so you already know they'll work.

#3: Think visual, but don't stress

You have to create effective visual content, at the end of the day you only have 15 second to catch people's attention and I can guarantee you nobody reads captions on Tiktok. However, there's no point in stressing yourself out. TikTok isn't polish, it's all about ideas. Flaws, quirkiness, mistakes can often be what makes you connect with users the most.

#4 Built-in collaboration tools

The app gives you a selection of tools for you to engage with bigger creators, or to encourage fans to engage with you.

Duets: you can create a video along another video, which then both get played at the same time. Some video have the #duet option disabled, otherwise you can go crazy with it. Reactions: It's kind of the same concept as a YouTube reaction video, only condensed. Challenges and contests: challenge your followers to create the best lip sync or dance to one of your tracks, give them something fun but easy to do!

#5: You can use TikTok as much or as little as you like

The way this platform works is different from your "traditional" Instagram or Twitter, where it's crucial to keep your content flowing. It's rare that someone checks your feed on TikTok, and if they do it means they are already interested in you because they liked your clip they got suggested on their feed by the app's algorithms. It's about the quality, and with that I mean the effectiveness of your video. You can create one video a week/every ten days and make it as funny as you can, or create one video every day, run out of ideas after two weeks and never end up on users' feed. I promise you it makes a difference. We're no experts, but we hope you found our tips useful to start considering TikTok as the crucial promotional tool it's becoming.
